Be Careful What You Let Into Your Mind
One thing I have learned about social media is that you should not listen to everything you see or hear on line. Not every advice shared online is wisdom, and not every viral opinion deserves a place in your mind or head. The internet has given everyone a microphone, but having a platform, huge followers, and massive likes or reactions does not automatically make someone knowledgeable, experienced, or right.
I know this sounds obvious, but sometimes we forget. We scroll through people's opinions every day and slowly begin to absorb them without even realizing it. Someone makes a confident video about relationships, money, marriage, friendship, career, or life, and suddenly we begin to question everything we once believed. The truth is, not everyone giving advice online is speaking from wisdom. Most times, they are simply speaking from pain, anger, or whatever they are currently feeling or going through at that point in time.
The fact about humans is that we are all biased by our experiences. Someone who has been betrayed may tell you never to trust anyone. Someone who has failed at something may discourage you from trying. Someone who is unhappy in their marriage may convince you that marriage is a mistake. Someone who got lucky may tell you that hard work is all you need. We often take our personal experiences and turn them into general advice, forgetting that life is not the same for everyone.
This is why you have to be very careful what you allow into your mind. Listen to people, learn from their experiences, but don't carry every opinion as truth. Not every advice is meant for you. Not every warning applies to your life. People will always speak from where they are standing, but you have to make decisions based on where you are going. In a world where everyone has something to say, learn to filter the noise. Sometimes, the best thing you can do for yourself is listen less, think more, and trust your own journey.
